Economic Regulation of the Aviation Industry

The Economic Regulation Division of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority has responsibility for the orderly development and expansion of air transport in Jamaica on a sound economic basis. As a member of the Jamaican Air Policy Committee, the Division also advises the Government of Jamaica on the economic aspects of the aviation industry in Jamaica.

The three main pieces of legislation governing the operations of this unit are:

  • The Civil Aviation Act
  • The Civil Aviation (Air Transport Licensing) Regulations 1966, as amended
  • The Airports (Economic Regulation) Act 2002

The main functions of this division are:

  • Granting of Air Transport Licenses and Permits (see Charter Permits Issued 2000-2009)
  • Statistical Analysis and Research
  • Regulation of Airports
